It's Monday and the start of August.
I had every intention of getting up early this morning do do a morning yoga class - I even wrote out a super great workout schedule on my weekly plan - but for whatever reason I woke up at 2am and could not get back to sleep until 3 and then did not want to wake up again at 5 so instead it's hello coffee and blog.
I can't believe July started with normal workweeks and normal school and ended with a week of castle and beach holiday days.
My brother's visit was a definite highlight. It was also super exhausting, in the way having fun is super exhausting. He was a good sport, even though he was exhausted too.
We packed in multipe family swimming trips - including the twins second time ever at a pool

Three Adults is just about the right ratio to take 4 non-swimming kids to a pool.
We also put my brother to work helping us move around bedrooms. The kids now have their own rooms, and Andy and I have a combined office & Peloton room. My brother slept in the new combined office/peloton room, and was a good sport about it even though it needs work and is rather chaotic at the moment.
Today is my first day trying to work in my new office. Tonight I can actually spend time sorting and tidying it hopefully. The kids are loving their new rooms, photo posts to follow, but we definitely need to add some soft furnishings as they are both somewhat austere at the moment. Also, in an unfortunate twist, the kids now have both of the hardwood floor bedrooms, and rugs are definitely needed ASAP.
Andy and I also got out for a quick hike while my brother watched the big kids. Twins first mountain ascent!
This week of holiday at home has made us so excited for future holidays.
I know very little about parenting and can offer almost no advice to anyone EXCEPT that life gets easier when your youngest turns 2. The twins are 3 months off being 2 and I can tell it is getting easier. We can do more. They are more fun.
July was a fun month with A LOT of highlights. Fingers crossed June* August is filled with adventure too.
*Thanks to
Kyria for pointing out this typo that I didn't notice even though I read this post twice before hitting publish!

ReplyDeleteHow lovely that your brother had a chance to visit!! We are still in France and doing an amusement park today- the little prince themed parc. I’m looking forward to September ;) I miss teaching.
That Little Prince theme park looks amazing! I would love to explore france as a family soon and am taking notes from your blog. It will be september soon!
DeleteI think the end of this post says it all: July was a fun month with A LOT of highlights. Fingers crossed June is filled with adventure too.
ReplyDeleteI hope that August is filled with adventure, and that you get more sleep soon so that you know what month it is! Haha! I am always amazed that you (and people) can do all that you do and still take time to blog and comment etc. I can barely get up the motivation to read blogs when I have been hiking for a week and I come back and I have 100 unread posts! Hats off to you, or as they say, chapeau!
OMG I did not notice that typo - Oops! It would be good to know what month it is more regularly.
DeleteOn Friday I babysat for a friend and I spent all evening reading blogs and commenting and it was SO FUN. I also did laundry at their house (our machine is broken) and snooped around for chocolate and it felt like being a teenager. I am not always great at reading and commenting on blogs (a lot more reading than commenting!) but I do love it when I get the chance to sit down and think and reply.
