I don't know what this is a picture of but I love it. I know every parent thinks their kid is brilliant but seriously, look at this drawing! Look at the emotion!
Last night I forgo-ed (forgot? didn't go to?) the pub in favor of an early night in bed and some reading. I definitely didn't read much in November so it was good to kickstart my December reading. I also feel much better this morning having gone to bed at 9:30 than staying up until midnight.
Also, I'm not sure if it's a sign of age, but I just don't sleep well after a pint or two. And my back hurts and these kids are too noisy.
It is a sign of age.
Today we are going to a local open air museum to try and get a family photo. I should have washed my hair, but I guess I can stick with a classic braid. I used to read the amazing Putting Me Together blog which had great ideas for coordinating, but today my goal is to get something better than this:
If we can't get a good photo today we can just use Isaac's family portrait:
Andy is making a Pie for dinner and then we need to confirm our food plan for the week. As it stands:
We did take official family photos for the first time in forever (really the first time ever) and I think I looked at the same website with suggestions. We ended up going with a variation of blues for all of us and I think it worked out great. I do love the end result but I think in some ways I love the home grown pictures almost better because everyone is more relaxed.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeping problem after drinking is an age thing I believe - I have it, too and it's one reason why I don't like it anymore...
Those are fun drawings! You can tell they're people, so your kids are winning at art!
ReplyDeleteTonight we're having leftover chickpea curry, we'll do a frittata this week, and a pumpkin chickpea soup that it very chili-like. I'm already exhausted thinking about cooking for the week!
That drswing is wild in the best way. There's something raw and beautiful about prewxhooler art. (Typing while nursing oops) We did a family photo at thanksgiving and it's fine enough to slap on a costco printed holiday card. I do like that your woods picture captures some realism. Plis it's cute. Only problem is it lacksAndy
ReplyDeleteOh well done getting family photo done! I am really going for "good enough" too which to me means
Delete1 - no one obviously crying
2 - you can see 70% or more of everyones faces
3 - all 4 of us are in the photo
4 - no additional people are in the photo.
Now that I've written it out I've realized why its impossible. We have a lot of good photos with 2-3 of us in it, and very few with additional people in them too, but somehow that sweet spot of =4 is elusive.
We took our own "Christmas card" pictures this year and didn't get a single one (using a tripod) of the whole family that was usable. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI HATE having my picture taken, but I do love having the holiday photocards each year. Thankfully no one cries anymore (this used to happen every year; or I would bribe the kids with candy or something so you'd see a peppermint bulging in a cheek - NO MORE). Even yet, it's still almost impossible to get a shot where everyone is looking/smiling. I'm often the culprit because I have weird eyes that - in pictures - look closed about 75% of the time. It must be genetic, because my father and one of my sisters have the same issue?!
I like having my photo taken (sometimes) but I have the same problem as you, my eyes are *always* closed! It's a running joke in my family - how can I see anything when my eyes are always closed? We have a great photo from last year and I really like having one, but the process of getting a photo is so painful.
DeleteWe totally failed this year, in the closest version Isaac is holding a box of raisons to his mouth and Lilah is Visably wailing on the floor. The whole thing did not go well. I imagine the margin for error is even smaller with a tripod, at least we had grandma photographer to help here.

Love that photo of the three of you :) and your kids are little artists...
ReplyDeleteSpinach Mac & Cheese sounds amazing.
