My Favourite Toilet Stall - Do you have a favourite toilet stall? At a museum in South Wales the ladies room has this stall:
In case you don't live with small children, one of lifes major small child dilemmas is "my child needs a wee but it will take forever and so much convincing but I need a wee and I can be quick but I might derail my childs wee by going first". THIS STALL SOLVES EVERYTHING! Everyone can wee! I want to submit it to some sort of Toilet Award show. Does that exist?Yearly Goals - I have the goal to buy a fire extinguisher for the house this year. I know this is more of a To Do. Where you keep a fire extinguisher? I don't want the kids to play with it of course. Should I try and mount it in the bathroom? Is there a teeny tiny one? The kitchen seems the obvious place but our kitchen is so tiny and so full. Also, I know a few of my goals are "buy a thing" but "buy a thing" can be a goal! I have to do research! And order it! And collect it! and find a place for it! This is all work.
Books - I have started reading an actual book and it's so much more unweildy than the kindle. I need to carve out some actual reading time. Andy has a reading light on a clip but the brightness and the rustle of turning pages seems like a lot of sound and noise. Perhaps kindle is the way forward when two mini people are sleeping in ones room.
TV - Andy and I started watching a rubbish show called The Traitors and we are loving it. We used to enjoy watching survivor and this is somewhat similar. It's also fun to watch shows together.
Someday we will put babies down and leave the room (not watch TV and have me fall asleep), but today is not that day. I did think it would be March, but now I'm thinking we go straight to babies own room in April. Plus my 8pm bedtime is the only thing that makes this 5:30am Rachel Time possible and I love Rachel Time.
We love Rachel time too, since it gives us these posts. The dual toilet stall is genius.
ReplyDeleteYes, buying a thing is a legit goal. There's a lot more to it than just getting your wallet out. I'm not an expert on fire extinguishers, but I think they're supposed to be kept close to areas of the house where they are most likely to be needed, such as the kitchen.
What you said about books vs Kindle! The Kindle is so much easier to handle and you never have to worry about losing your place if you have to put the book down quickly for some reason (ahem four small kids or in my case one small puppy).
We have a fire blanket in the kitchen because it seems the stove is the most likely place for a fire, and the blanket should work for that. But I think the extinguisher will go under the sink sink since kitchen does seem the most likely fire option....
DeleteThat dual toilet setup really is genius! I have never seen that, but how convenient with kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI keep my fire extinguisher under the cupboard in my kitchen! It used to be in the entryway to our home (right by the kitchen), but when we did renovations we had to take it off the wall and so I put it under the sink.
I suppose this isn't ideal, though, since a visitor wouldn't know where it was since it's not visible unless the cabinet is open.
It seems like under the sink cabinet is the common option so maybe a guest would know where to look! I think that's what we will do with ours....
DeleteLove that dual toilet stall! So smart! There are a bunch of family restrooms in airports in the US and they don't even have two toilets, but it is SUCH a good idea.
ReplyDeleteWe have a small kitchen fire extinguisher that looks more like a bottle of cleansing spray than like a normal fire extinguisher. It's supposed to be for kitchen-specific fires. It's called First Alert EZ Fire Spray and it fits right next to the Lysol and the kitchen garbage bags and the dishwasher detergent.
I think our under sink area is too full... I need to take a look and see where I can fit it. I'm glad to know that under the sink is the common place to put this!
DeleteOh and "family restrooms" which are just tiny single rooms with a toilet and a changing table are my nemisis. No one fits!
DeleteI love that toilet stall; there was one like that in a restaurant I used to go to in New Orleans and my friend and I used to go to the restroom together all the time. However, I never thought about the convenience of doing it with kids! I just thought it was for people who didn't mind peeing with their friends!
ReplyDeleteI do not have a fire extinguisher! Now I kind of feel like a bad adult, as I have not even thought about getting one!
I would totally have done a friends wee in a joint stall earlier in life! And it seems like it makes sense the joint toilet was in New Orleans...
DeleteWe have a fire extinguisher in our kitchen under our sink and in our master bedroom next to my husband's dresser. He ordered them when we moved into our house in a big order with CO2 detectors and a doorbell. LOL. I have been reading about fire blankets that you use to smother fires and I'm seriously considering getting one of those for each floor of the house, too.
ReplyDeleteWe have a fire blanket in the kitchen because it's smaller than a fire extinguisher and I bet it would make less mess too! Unfortunately our under sink area is really full, so I may try and convince andy to mount the extinguisher somewhere.
DeleteA double toilet. Everyone can wee! Haha. That made me laugh but I can see the convenience with small kids!
