Friday 5

1 - Andy and my movie nights continue.  Every night we watch 20 minutes of a film.  After hidden figures we watched Moneyball.  It was a great movie too! I've been telling everyone how good Hidden Figures was and then I realized it was 7 years old... Moneyball is 13 years old.  I guess I haven't seen many movies in the last 13 years.  After Moneyball we saw The Immitation Game.  We didn't like this one as much.  I do like Benedict Cumberbatch (sp?) but Andy was annoyed by the "super smart super weird british person" angle.  He wanted more math and less acting.  Also, Keira Knightly is so pretty and she talks without moving her teeth which is pretty impressive.

2 - I went for a run today!  My physio said that couch to 5k is the best rehab after pregnancy so I did the first session.  Did it feel weird? yes! Did walking feel weird? Yes! Did having someone say "you can do this!" seem patronizing since I used to be able to do a half marathon with little training?  Also yes.  But it was awesome to get out.

3 - I went to Twin Club and met other twin moms.  It was good to go.  It made me realise I have lots of friends here and a good support network already.  I am very lucky.  Also, twins get so much better and then so much harder.  I saw what 18 month old twins are like and now I'm so glad I have a nanny coming.  Also, I trust the decisions I'm making more.  Other people make different decisions.  That's cool.  I'm happy with where I am with twins.

4 - I had a catch up with my boss at work.  I like my boss.  I felt great sitting in my home office and chatting with her.  Maternity leave is cool, but I love work life too.

5 - Tonight we have a kid free dinner!  We do have two babies though.  Isaac and Lilah are at grandmas for dinner.  On Sunday we will have a big kid free night as both are having sleepovers!  Andy and I can sleep as late as the babies!

  2. I love it! So much of being a parent these days seems judgmental, where people judge those who make different decisions. I love that your twins group is there to support each other and the different decisions that are made.

Enjoy your big kid free night, and I hope the twins sleep in! We used to bring our daughter into bed with us in the morning on weekends to get an extra hour or so.

  3. That's a fabulous five! I don't know what your weather is like, but it is gorgeous here and perfect for running. I'd watch Benedict Cumberbatch in anything but I do remember that The Imitation Game was a little tedious.

    1. Haha yes, Tedious was exactly what Andy said too. Maybe I need to look for more Benedict Cumberbatch films though...

  4. This was a great post.

I have been completely off my running game. The last few years when I ramp back up in the spring I just jump in with two feet, but I think I should do a Couch to 5K or 10K plan this year. It would feel more inspiring, I think.
I loved having a daily yoga challenge and think even though I technically probably could do 5K now after having months off running (I hate the treadmill and didn't have the mental headspace for it in the fall)...it would be so much better to work through a program!
How fun for the kids and how lovely for you. I hope the twins sleep like ANGELS (do angels even sleep?!). I hope the twins sleep A LOT.
It is snowy and icy here though so, for now, a treadmill (or local indoor track) it is :(

    1. Thank you! We are so lucky with our weather right now! Between 5 and 10 degrees C and mostly dry. Today it was even sunny!

I'm enjoying the program - nice to give myself freedom not to try and run like I used to. I can only run like I am now

  6. Couch to 5k is a great idea. I heard one woman give advice to another once about getting back into working out and she advised the woman to just have a time of day where she put on her workout clothes for a few days. Then the next few, put on the clothes and walk a block, then the next few, a few blocks, etc. Her point was that this woman was trying to jump in heavy, but that she should ease in! I think that getting outside in any way, shape or form is a win!

    1. I love starting the day in running clothes - that makes the transition to exercise 5 minutes faster! I totally agree with that advice. On reading your comment I realised the biggest barrier for me is changing between a running bra and a feeding bra - so this morning I ordered a breastfeeding sports bra. That way I can put it on in the morning and then I'll just have to change my shirt to workout! Thanks for the inspiration!
